Bolivia.   La Paz is one of the highest cities in the world. It lies in the valley of the Choqueapu river (sometimes Choqueyapu). which comes from mountain streams in the eastern cordillera of the Andes. The central part of the city has an elevation of about 3,600m and suburbs extend beyond the rim of the valley to a height of 4,050m.   Mount Illimani 6,462m overlooks the city.
