Mexico:
the site of Izapa in Chiapas State close to the border with Guatemala.
The site is extensive with 13 large 'plazas', some low pyramids
with stairways and is considered as a link between Olmec and Maya
cultures. This area was part of the Soconusco region where the people
lived well from fertile land dominated by the Tacaná volcano.
